What are Green Events?

How do I plan a Green Event or Meeting?
  • Early communication:
    Bring brandmood on board early to ensure your Green Event is planned sustainably from the very beginning.
  • Sustainable event concept:
    brandmood develops a tailor-made event concept with suitable venues, caterers, accommodations, and service providers that hold the Austrian Ecolabel or actively contribute to a sustainable event.

What are the requirements for hosting a Green Event or Meeting?

General requirements (examples)

  • A responsible person must be appointed for the Green Event.
  • The organizer commits to taking ecological and social responsibility.
  • All required documents and evidence must be submitted in full.
  • All sustainability measures must be planned, documented, and monitored.

Mandatory criteria (examples)

  • The event must be designed to be largely accessible and barrier-free.
  • Energy-efficient technology must be used wherever possible.
  • Waste must be avoided and properly separated.
  • Catering should include organic and/or regional food options.
  • Giveaways should be avoided or must meet sustainable standards.

Points-based criteria (examples)

  • CO2 compensation
  • Digital materials instead of printed documents
  • Providing tap water in carafes
  • Booking regional or socially responsible service providers
  • Integration of social aspects, such as inclusion projects

What does it cost to certify an event as a Green Event?

For most aspects, no additional costs arise – many criteria can be integrated easily through regional partners, thoughtful planning, and resource-efficient solutions.

Can any event be certified as a Green Event?

Yes – in general, most events can be certified as Green Events. In our experience, indoor events tend to be the most suitable, as many requirements can be met more easily and efficiently in a controlled environment.
